One could say that Anthony Franco “got it right” with his Spring 2013 looks for both men and women. The tailoring in the suits was impeccable. He offered a surprising choice of fabrics, ranging from floral prints, plaids to brocades. A real stand-out piece in the collection was the Melon women’s tuxedo featuring side panels of rich, Gold brocade on the pant.

Dina Bar-El is best known for her line of cocktail dresses and evening wear. Her Spring 2013 collection did not disappoint, offering a variety of dresses designed to enhance a wide range of figure types. The collection was sophisticated with a touch of Hollywood glamour. A simple White sheath, featuring a slash of Crimson at the neckline was a shorter take on the dress that Angelina Jolie wore on the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globes. The Canary Yellow floor length gown  featured a large bow at the bodice—a great look for a “boyish” figure.

Nathanaelle Hottois offered an elegant, feminine, and somewhat classic collection. One could definitely see a hint of Chanel influence in her designs. She worked fun pastel knee-length dresses with full skirts alongside of more fitted silhouettes. A stand-out print of large muted Red roses was fashioned into both a short and long dress. The overall style of both was reminiscent of the ’50s. The crowd was in awe of a Cream full length “Cinderella” style ball gown. This could have been taken as a bit too “costume-like” for the runway.

The designer presented his Spring/Summer 2013 Collection, "Jewels of the Gods" to a pack crowd. This collection was inspired by beauty iconic Grace Kelly. Monsanto's designs  enhances the natural curves of a woman's body, uniting feminine sensuality with poise and elegance. Monsanto's whimsical designs are highly adorned by his celebrity clientele.

Now this is how you do a Grand Finale, Dubai designer Furne One, closed the season  for Style Fashion Week LA and what a way to close! This designer is known for his fantastical style and unbridled imagination.   His provocative images of fantasy, mortality and power mesmerizes on the runway and transforms the environment around them. His Spring collection 2013 "Confessions of Mata Hari", a tribute to Alexander McQueen. We can see why so many celebrities want to work with him, celebrities like Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj just to name a few.

KaitBlu

Seventeen years old Kaitlyn Fitzgerald recently debuted her new line  KaitBlu at the Omaha Fashion Week, (yeah Omaha, who knew Nebraskans were so fashionable). KaitBlu combines a New England chic with bohemian sensibility. Her aesthetic expresses a tone of creativity and reinvention that has already proved popular among teenage females. I think we will be hearing a lot from this young designer in the future.

JHAUS

California design house JHAUS  presented their American made premium denim collection. There were two show stoppers this evening I thought, the first was a dress made out of burlap, very stunning and a dress made out of multi-colored corn, it was very interesting.

Bri Seeley

Pacific Northwest fashion designer Bri Seeley debuted her spring collection.  This collection, inspired by vintage designs, Bri Seeley's clothing enhances the natural shape of the female form, inspiring confidence  and poise. We really like the color palates of this collection, which were simply blue and creme.

Fashion designer Mike Vensel  knows how to dress a woman. I love the silhouettes, how he drapes the curves of the female anatomy. Beautifully.

Los Angeles based designer Sarah Nami Ahn presented her Spring/Summer Collection 2013.  The word on the street is that this was the best show at Concept Los Angeles this season

Did you ever dream about playing with life size dolls when you were a little girl?  Paul Redmond's informal presentation with his use neoprene rubber to make really cool outfits with paper-dolls cuts with tabs. A very visual presentation, our favorite was the piece with monitor in the dress, unfortunately my Samsung Galaxy decided to take a break, so there is no image of it turned on.

Aeneas Erlking was the first designer to showcase their collection at Concept Los Angeles @ Sirens Studios in Hollywood, CA. This New Yorker designer studied fashion design in Parsons the New School for design and Fashion institute of Technology in the past 4 years,she has also received exclusive art and culture education in Ren Min University of China before she moved to the United States.

Aeneas Erlking started her company in 2011 with her very first collection of contemporary women clothing along with a runway show which was  launched in New York City with much success.  She is well known for her  innovative, edgy & anarchistic designs that she constructs with wildly luxurious materials.

The presentation by Kittinhawk designer Allysun Dutra, I loved the dresses, but did not like the presentation, or should I say did not understand it. I would have love to see a straight presentation because I thought the dresses had a story of their own and did not need all of the theatrics.

Day 1 Los Angeles Week-Jen Awad

Jen Awad Spring-Summer 2013 Collections

This is the second time for me at a Jen Awad runway show, and I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed. Simple love the mono-chromatic mod dresses, a throw back to the sixties.  The cocktail dresses were very feminine & flirty, my favorites of these were the black fringe dresses.  She ended with the show with several beautiful evening gowns, including a very daring lace black dress.

The Odylyne presentation started out as one fellow blogger stated that the candles in a circle in the middle of the runway, was a "fashion seance".  Which was very interesting once the models enter the room and stood around the circle of candles looking like beautiful bohemian earth goddesses wearing long flowy gowns with their manes beautifully adorned.  One by one they disappeared and return wearing bold & bright dresses and stood back in the circle.  It really made a gorgeous statement.

Los Angeles Fashion Council  inaugural set of Los Angeles shows kick off the first of two days featuring presentations, runway shows and an on site show room from Los Angeles leading designers in both apparel and accessories.

ISM Mode by designer Inka Sherman started the day off with a whimsical & romantic presentation of their Spring-Summer 2013 presentation.
