A WRAP-UP ON LA FASHION WEEK FALL/WINTER 2013 COLLECTIONS
I decided to write things a little different this season after my experience with fashion week in Los Angeles this March. I guess this is the first season that I am a little disappointed with some of the designers and with some of the venue producers. I sometimes wonder if Los Angeles is taken seriously in the rest of the world as a fashion leader?
I did not do Concept LA this season, mostly due to how it was ran last season. I absolutely love the venue, but hated the wait between shows in the hot sun and did not want to experience that again. (My photographer who is a red head and fair skin did not fair too well in the sun) I did not want to chance it again this season. I am not sure if they improved on that part of the event, if anyone knows if they did I would love a feedback in comments. The runway shows feature the following designers Jen Awad, Nikki Rich, Mike Vensel, B:Scott & Sarah Scott. I did score a few images from the shows.
Will LA ever be taken seriously in the fashion world?

The collection helps women who work in creative industries such as Fashion, Advertising, Media, Beauty to dress professionally but not in a boring ‘corporate’ kind of way. (sorry bankers and lawyers!)

For Inka, of ISM
Mode, designing a collection is an organic process. She starts with a feel
and shapes that she wants to create, then looks into fabrics might to satisfy
her vision whilst letting the fabric inspire her. Every season she experiments
with shapes on the mannequin and comes up with unique dye techniques to add
color and patterns. ISM Mode is a sustainable and eco driven line.

at various venues across Los Angeles. You will find an array of designers, venues and experiences in the City of Angels. Some designers will choose to show at a pre-established L.A. Fashion Week venue, others will show at a private venue on their own. All events are by invitation only.
March 6-7 LA Fashion Council presentations
The Los Angeles Fashion Council Collections, now in their second season, were designed to provide a legitimate platform for L.A designers, press and buyers to converge and celebrate L.A talent. This season they have taken residence in a newly renovated retail space on Los Angeles St, which will play host to a number of different programs throughout March including runway shows and a market week show room.
