Blast from the Past- Alana Hale will be presenting a runway show at Fashion Week 2011 for Concept at Ace Gallery Los Angeles - Click here for details
Up and coming LA designer Alana Hale recently debuted her Holiday 2010 line in a quaint courtyard outside of Melrose boutique La Maison de Fashion.
Her line consists of feminine yet edgy pieces that appear to highlight
the best of both worlds. By incorporating show-stopping adornments into
delicate pieces, and by mixing strong materials like leather with soft
fabrics such as silk chiffon, Miss Hale has found a middle ground that
will leave lovers of all fashion styles absolutely speechless. Many of
the runway outfits featured neutral tones rightfully named champagne,
taupe, camel, smoke, black and metallic.
I attended this event
and had the opportunity to speak with Alana after the show. Some of my
favorite pieces from the show were the Sophia Dress and the Madison
Dress, both made with feather appliquéd silk to create unusual yet
beautiful outfits that would turn heads. Another great look featured
her Juliette Jacket, made of Lambskin leather and ornamented with soft
flowers, paired with her cotton Lady T and Hollywood Leather Shorts.
This look is perfect for day or night! Other pieces that particularly
stood out were the Bella Mini Skirt in gold, the angelic Elizabeth
Dress, the sexy black Lola Pant made with Lambskin leather, and the
sultry, deep burgundy Croc Dress designed in embossed leather.
Overall the show was dramatically unforgettable!
When
I asked Alana what her inspiration for the Holiday line was, she said
she created the collection to resemble “if Michael Jackson were to meet
Old Hollywood Glamour”. This combination could be seen throughout the
show, specifically in Alana’s personal favorite outfit, the burgundy
Croc Dress matched with the sparkly Chloe Vest. Alana’s favorite colors
to work with are neutrals, because so much can be built upon them, and
her preferred fabrics include silk and leather, because these go great
with embellishments. Miss Hale’s passion for high fashion propelled her
to begin designing, and she believes that the contrast between
femininity and edginess seen in her clothing reflects the disparity
within her own personality. It is clear to me that her visions will be
understood and accepted incredibly well in today’s fashion world,
because I believe that so many women’s personalities contain this same
duality.
Keep an eye out for Alana Hale’s line, being sold in the
larger LA area and soon to be expanding! Also check in here at the
Society 805 website for updates on where to find her collection once it
reaches stores in the 805!
