Fashion Week LA Is Here Again!

We are getting ready again to start our journey into the realm of Los Angeles during Fashion Week. Its my time to check out the fashion for the upcoming season, and it's the closet we west coasters can get to Fashion Week in the big apple.
The first round of designers we will see will be at the ever cool and hip Concept LA venue. This season we will see Mike Vensel, Camila X Castillo, Elaine Marie, Jen Awad and Camilia Skikos.

Mike Vensel, who is also Concept's co-founder is a  fashion designer, an artist, and a photographer. His designs are known for having a sleek and sexy minimalist aesthetics,  which I am sure being an artist and photographer gives him a different perspective in creating a collection. Vensel 's FW2015 collection "Power" will be revealed this Saturday. www.mikevensel.com

Fashion Week LA Spring/Summer 2014- LA Fashion Weekend Day 2

Venue: Sunset Gower Studios
 Producers: LA Fashion Weekend
Fashion Designers: Le MaLi Designs, Shail K, Unique Vintage
Season: Spring/Summer 2014

DAY TWO (Sunday)
This season by the time this venue took place I was totally wiped out from driving back and forth from Ventura County to Los Angeles during this fashion week and decided not to go.  Don't worry we still sent our crew over to cover the runway shows.

Unique Vintage
Katie Echeverry's nostalgic eye definitely paid off when her spring/summer collection
of 2014 had its debut. These theatrical yet casual designs pay homage to the styles
of the forties, fifties, and even as far back as the roaring '20s. Although they may not
be entirely new, Katie's take on these vintage styles is refreshing. I could totally see
younger generations of women yearning to have this collection in their closet!

Fashion Week LA Spring/Summer 2014- LA Fashion Weekend-Day 1

Venue: Sunset Gower Studios
 Producers: LA Fashion Weekend
Fashion Designers: Nathanaelle Couture,  Aamber Aleyna, Nicole Lee, Chole Evangeline, Piper Gore
Season: Spring/Summer 2014

DAY ONE (Saturday)
This season by the time this venue took place I was totally wiped out from driving back and forth from Ventura County to Los Angeles during this fashion week and decided not to go.  Don't worry we still sent our crew over to cover the runway shows.
Nathanaelle Couture
First to grace the runway was Danemark born Nathanaelle Couture, this is our second time seeing this designer on the runway. I see she has a love for lace, I notice that she used lace in her last spring/summer collection too. This collection seems more grown up than the last time. I loved the sophistication of the beige lace dresses, definitely something that I can see in local boutiques.  She also had some vintage inspired pieces in this collection, my three favorites are pictured below.

Gen Art: Fresh Faces

Guest Writer: Stacy Ellen
Genart is known for discovering new and up and coming fashion designers. I was a little perplexed by the fact that 2 out of the 4 designers presented at their SS14 LAFW event
were designers that I consider to already be established not only in Los Angeles, but nationally? Despite this conversion the overall trend that was shown in ALL collections was the sporty high fashion look. Traditional sports uniform cuts made with traditionally high fashion fabrics. A trend that I feel is very prevalent not only in fashion but the way that we live our daily lives. With most of us rushing from our child's soccer game (or other daytime activities) to a colleagues dinner party, this style melds well with our busy lifestyles.

Unexpected Surprises

Last Tuesday after the Men's Fashion Week Show, I had two unexpected surprises, I was invited to an independent fashion show in Hollywood for Celebrity Fashion Stylist and Designer Ashton Michael

Ashton presented his "Black Cross" Spring/Summer 2014 Collection, all in black & white, on a gray stage right off Hollywood Blvd.  It was a wicked collection of leather, silk chiffon, organza and PU coated denim for both men & women. Perfect outfits to add a little spice to your wardrobe. For more on Ashton Michael please visit http://www.ashtonmichael.com/

Fashion Week Los Angeles Spring/Summer 2014

It's that time of year again, another season of Fashion Week Los Angeles. We are at our first event of the season, Driven By Design LA. Thus far the set up is "simply gorgeous". This is one producing team that knows how to take care of the their media, hats off to them for that. Let me start with the no hassle check in, NO HASSLE. Then imagine the delight to see that they even provided hostesses to take you to your seats, already they are setting themselves apart from other producers. Lunch was also provided as well for the media.

Now this is how you do a Grand Finale, Dubai designer Furne One, closed the season  for Style Fashion Week LA and what a way to close! This designer is known for his fantastical style and unbridled imagination.   His provocative images of fantasy, mortality and power mesmerizes on the runway and transforms the environment around them. His Spring collection 2013 "Confessions of Mata Hari", a tribute to Alexander McQueen. Concept Los Angeles @Siren Studies - Informal Presentations

Concept Los Angeles first fashion week at their new home Siren Studios on Sunset Blvd, across from Sunset Gower Studios, and yes it was air-conditioned.

 Paul Redmond

Did you ever dream about playing with life size dolls when you were a little girl?  Paul Redmond's informal presentation with his use neoprene rubber to make really cool outfits with paper-dolls cuts with tabs. A very visual presentation, our favorite was the piece with monitor in the dress, unfortunately my Samsung Galaxy decided to take a break, so there is no image of it turned on.
