Fashion Week LA Is Here Again!

We are getting ready again to start our journey into the realm of Los Angeles during Fashion Week. Its my time to check out the fashion for the upcoming season, and it's the closet we west coasters can get to Fashion Week in the big apple.
The first round of designers we will see will be at the ever cool and hip Concept LA venue. This season we will see Mike Vensel, Camila X Castillo, Elaine Marie, Jen Awad and Camilia Skikos.

Mike Vensel, who is also Concept's co-founder is a  fashion designer, an artist, and a photographer. His designs are known for having a sleek and sexy minimalist aesthetics,  which I am sure being an artist and photographer gives him a different perspective in creating a collection. Vensel 's FW2015 collection "Power" will be revealed this Saturday. www.mikevensel.com

Fashion Week LA - Alexandrino, Mathiasen & JBurgos

Concept Los Angeles has always been once of my favorite venues to during attend Fashion Week Los Angeles. There is always eclectic fashionable crowd attending Concept. Once we were inside and made the epic climb up the hilly walkway up to a installation of sorts for shadow play, which seemed to be a hit, judging by the many people making shadow figures. Once we reach the top to the venue after fighting the crowd to get inside, we were seated to watch the only runway presentation of the evening Emily Daccarett. Please click here to read about Emily.  Here are three emerging designers with their informal presentations.

Will LA ever be taken seriously in the fashion world?

A WRAP-UP ON LA FASHION WEEK FALL/WINTER 2013 COLLECTIONS

I decided to write things a little different this season after my experience with fashion week in Los Angeles this March. I guess this is the first season that I am a little disappointed with some of the designers and with some of the venue producers.  I sometimes wonder if Los Angeles is taken seriously in the rest of the world as a fashion leader?

I did not do Concept LA this season, mostly due to how it was ran last season. I absolutely love the venue, but hated the wait between shows in the hot sun and did not want to experience that again. (My photographer who is a red head and fair skin did not fair too well in the sun) I did not want to chance it again this season. I am not sure if they improved on that part of the event, if anyone knows if they did I would love a feedback in comments. The runway shows feature the following designers Jen Awad, Nikki Rich, Mike Vensel, B:Scott & Sarah Scott. I did score a few images from the shows.

Fashion designer Mike Vensel  knows how to dress a woman. I love the silhouettes, how he drapes the curves of the female anatomy. Beautifully.
