Will LA ever be taken seriously in the fashion world?

A WRAP-UP ON LA FASHION WEEK FALL/WINTER 2013 COLLECTIONS

I decided to write things a little different this season after my experience with fashion week in Los Angeles this March. I guess this is the first season that I am a little disappointed with some of the designers and with some of the venue producers.  I sometimes wonder if Los Angeles is taken seriously in the rest of the world as a fashion leader?

I did not do Concept LA this season, mostly due to how it was ran last season. I absolutely love the venue, but hated the wait between shows in the hot sun and did not want to experience that again. (My photographer who is a red head and fair skin did not fair too well in the sun) I did not want to chance it again this season. I am not sure if they improved on that part of the event, if anyone knows if they did I would love a feedback in comments. The runway shows feature the following designers Jen Awad, Nikki Rich, Mike Vensel, B:Scott & Sarah Scott. I did score a few images from the shows.

KaitBlu

Seventeen years old Kaitlyn Fitzgerald recently debuted her new line  KaitBlu at the Omaha Fashion Week, (yeah Omaha, who knew Nebraskans were so fashionable). KaitBlu combines a New England chic with bohemian sensibility. Her aesthetic expresses a tone of creativity and reinvention that has already proved popular among teenage females. I think we will be hearing a lot from this young designer in the future.

JHAUS

California design house JHAUS  presented their American made premium denim collection. There were two show stoppers this evening I thought, the first was a dress made out of burlap, very stunning and a dress made out of multi-colored corn, it was very interesting.

Ina Soltani Fall Winter 2012 Collection

Ina Soltani presented her Fall Winter 2012 Collection Monday evening at downtown Los Angeles Vibiana.  The new line featured plenty of bold colors, feathers & leather  in this season's collection. My favorites were her bright bold glamorous evening gowns in her collection. Really Amazing.

Style Fashion Week LA opening night at Vibiana

Stop Staring by  Los Angeles based vintage-inspired ready to wear collection by Alicia Estrada was showcased on Monday evening at the beautiful Vibiana downtown, Los Angeles.

Designer Alicia Estrada found her inspiration for her Fall/Winter 2012 Collection through her love for the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema known as the "Epoca de Oro". As a Mexican-American and a film connoisseur, Alicia became fascinated with the great beauties of Mexican film noir like Dolores del Rio, Maria Felix, Marga Lopez and Lupe Velez. These starlets were glamorous femme fatales who exuded sensuality, sophistication and grace on and off screen captivating the attention of not only Mexico but the world.

This collection references traditional 1940s styling with elements from the 1950s and today. Blues, greys and blacks weave throughout the collection in a new window pane print and two-tone color blocking adds eye popping details to form-fitting styles. The dresses embraces and enhances the Latina curves that inspired Alicia while still remaining, classy, alluring and cosmopolitan.

Sorry I used a new video system and thought I knew it, but apparently I did not. So below is another video with a better version of the show, everything is in color. Also I was a little late checking in, so I missed my front row seat.
